My favourite wedding invitations (of the moment)

I’ve spied a lot of gorgeous wedding suites on Pinterest lately. I’ve been really drawn to invitations that feature handwritten or scripty fonts in gold and rose gold foil. When they are set against darker backgrounds the words pop off the page.

Floral flat lays also seem to be popular at the moment too. I’ve seen a lot of designers are using big, full blooms and deconstructed botanicals. The result is a design that is both striking and distinctive.

Have you seen any wedding invitations that have caught your eye lately? Leave the details in the comments below.

Santiago Sunbird

If you caught My Three Favourite Things newsletter a couple of weeks ago you would have seen a beautiful watercolour wedding invitation designed by Santiago Sunbird. I’m in awe of Bree and Sarah Hankinson’s work. It’s beautifully designed and while it is watercolour (and watercolour is so ‘in’ at the moment) it’s also understated and unique, which is everything you want from your wedding stationery, right?

Of course they don’t have to be used for weddings – the artists below have other, general options you can choose instead.

Wedding Wednesday – Ian Collins

Absolutely gorgeous wedding suite made by very clever (and hands-on) bride (Christine) and groom (Ian). It was designed and made using a home printer and a rented laser cutter/engraver. Very crafty and fun.

I love the idea of giving guests a field guide showing flora and fauna in the area where the wedding took place. Very cool idea. I also love the interactivity of the invitation where guests could pop up the trees to get into the spirit of a wedding in the woods.

11 gorgeous wedding invitations

How I do love looking at wedding invitations! It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of my favourites.

This round-up has a real international feel with designers hailing from far flung places around the globe like Vietnam, India, Romania and even Indonesia. It’s nice to know that the language of love is celebrated so beautifully all over this big, beautiful planet.

Talking table numbers

Today Janelle from Joan’s Heart is talking about table numbers! Thanks for your guest post Janelle.

Paper has its place in a number of things at an event – save the dates, invitations, programs, menus and escort cards. And, don’t forget table numbers! As guests meander throughout a venue, searching for their table, you can help them along with something different. Attention-grabbing table numbers are often a combination of paper with an interesting typography, color and/or texture, and a unique table number holder.

Here are some of my favorite table number ideas.

The table number is incorporated into the centerpiece, for a very clean, simple look. Perfect for an outdoor garden or vintage-inspired event, the kraft paper and handwritten style would be a great DIY project. (Image source).

For a rustic event, consider a simple paper number and a unique table number holder like these wood branch table number holders from Etsy seller, Sunday Hatch.

Like the rustic wood branch table number holder, this knot table number holder is great way to play up a theme, like nautical. Let your theme inspire a creative table number choice. (Image source).

Etsy is a fantastic source for printed and printable table numbers.

If you want to go DIY all the way, check out this amazing round-up of free table number downloads for some beautiful options. While you’re at it Microsoft Word has an easy to use tent table number template, so you can create something truly custom.
